For the second year in a row, Time magazine recognizes BTS’ global influence in social media.
Don’t Miss Out: BTS’s Record Breaking Music Video For “Fake Love”
On June 28th, Time unveiled their fourth annual roundup of the “25 Most Influential People on the Internet.” The two factors they used to make their decision were “global impact on social media and their overall ability to drive news.”
Although the list does not have a definitive ranking, BTS was the first group/person mentioned (that has to mean something right?). Other influential people in this list included Rihanna, Kanye West, the students of Parkland, Florida, and many more. This is the second year in a row that BTS has made it to this list and it makes total sense.
Time mentions a few notable moments that helped bring BTS to this list. One huge achievement mentioned was being the first K-Pop artists to have a No.1 album on the Billboard 200. Aside from the record-breaking albums that the band have released, Time says “the real engine behind their success,” is their enormous following. Like Beyoncé’s Beyhive and Justin’s Beliebers, BTS has a strong following that calls themselves ARMY. BTS’ fans have given them the success they have today. For example, the music video for “Fake Love” is the biggest 24 hour debut of 2018 racking up more than 35 million views on youtube.
As Time’s ist gives BTS recognition as global influencers on the internet, it also gives recognition to you, the fans. So keep up the hard work of liking, sharing, and forcing your best friends to watch the latest music videos!
